This Privacy Policy explains how Metro Trades of New York (“Metro Trades”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information when you visit metrotradesny.com (the “Site”) or contact us.
1. Who we are
Metro Trades of New York is a global trade, sourcing and trade-finance desk based in New York, NY, United States. For any privacy question, write to trade@metrotradesny.com.
2. Information we collect
- Information you send us. When you email us or message us on WhatsApp — including through the quote wizard on the Site — we receive what you choose to share, such as your name, company, contact details and details about the products, volumes and ports you are interested in.
- Quote wizard. The wizard runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not stored or sent to us until you choose to send the pre-filled WhatsApp message.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of the request) to deliver the Site and keep it secure.
- Visitor statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are viewed. It records the page visited, the referring site, approximate country, and browser, operating system and device type. We also use Vercel Speed Insights to measure how fast pages load (anonymous performance metrics such as load time and layout stability). Neither tool uses cookies, stores anything in your browser, follows you across other websites or builds a profile of you.
We do not use advertising trackers or social-media pixels on the Site, and we do not have user accounts.
3. How we use information
- To answer your inquiries and prepare quotes.
- To plan and carry out trade, sourcing, inspection, logistics and payment operations you ask us to handle.
- To comply with legal, tax, anti-fraud and record-keeping obligations.
- To operate and secure the Site.
Where a legal basis is required (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Brazil’s LGPD), we rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing a contract, our legitimate interest in running and securing our business, compliance with legal obligations and, where required, your consent.
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers that help us run the Site and communicate with you: our hosting provider (Vercel), Google Fonts (which delivers the Site’s fonts and receives your IP address and browser information) and WhatsApp/Meta when you message us there.
- Operating partners — such as suppliers, inspection companies, freight forwarders, banks and customs brokers — when needed to carry out an operation you request.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.
5. International transfers
We are based in the United States and work with partners worldwide, so your information may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
6. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to handle your inquiry or operation and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, and then delete or anonymize it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email trade@metrotradesny.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority (for example, the ANPD in Brazil or your EU/UK supervisory authority).
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Children
The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 18.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
